Hello, I am new on the forum and need some advice/help--I have a good friend living on a small Greek island, Leros, and she has a Canon problem which she can't solve without some help. The details are this: she used to have a Canon powershot A75, which she used with a Canon Tele-Converter Zoom lens TC-DC52 2.4X and a Canon Collar LA DC52C. She then got, and still uses, a Canon powershot A640 which has a built in zoom lens--she intends upgrading shortly to an entry level DSLR but in the meantime would like to have more "zoom" power for the A640. She needs to know, and I can't help, as I don't know enough about Canon equipment, if there is any sort of adapter/collar/cuff/step up ring on the market that will enable her to use her TC-DC52 zoom lens with her A640 camera. She has looked online but there is no definitive answer to her problem and not enough details on any site to allow her to make a choice and buy something. I hope there might be someone out there who can help !

Jenny.

Jenny,

Welcome to the forum

This isn't a definitive answer but simply an educated guess.

I would expect that putting the 52mm teleconveter lens on the A640 would result in a distorted image due to the difference in size of the object lens....it seems logical that the two built in lens have differing focal lengths (even though the "numbers" might appear to be the same).

HTH
