Hello all

Anyone who can tell me if this lens alters in length / extends through it's zoom range or does it remain constant in length like the 70-200?

Much appreciated(y)

Mk II.... ?

Mine which ill have to assume is the mkI does get psychically longer when at its widest end... But, if you keep the lens hood on it never protrudes past the end of it.

As for the mkII version, is it new?

Well it wouldn't, would it, 'cause the hood attaches to the front end of the lens...:D

I think the 'old' one has a different focal length 28-70mm rather than 24-70mm
There's only been one version of 24-70mm

EDIT: and it reverse extends it becoming longest at it's widest (24mm)

Anton,

Check out this site, they give a good review on Canon Lens, you will find the one you are asking about.

Hope this helps you

Thanks, will have a look(y)

Im grand thanks... :)

Im still struggling to see any referance to a mkII... but im tired.

With Hood@24mm
Without Hood@24mm
Without Hood@70mm

And beaten too the comparisons... :(

Yep, I think it is also time for me to hit the sack...

Glad to hear you are doing well.

Pity about the extending...wonder how long before it gets dust inside:bonk:

They are weather sealed yes, but if air can come and go then dust must surely find it's way in eventually:bang:
