Question on EF 24-70 Mk II L

Hello all

Anyone who can tell me if this lens alters in length / extends through it's zoom range or does it remain constant in length like the 70-200?

Mk II.... ?

Mine which ill have to assume is the mkI does get psychically longer when at its widest end... But, if you keep the lens hood on it never protrudes past the end of it.

As for the mkII version, is it new?

Looks like the Mk II must have been launched late 2002 then.

Too lazy to go and look up dpreview at the mo:bonk:

Wonder if it says "Mk II" on the newer one:shrug:

No it doesn't it attaches to the body of the lens. If you get a chance to physically look at one, you'll see what I mean.

I think the 'old' one has a different focal length 28-70mm rather than 24-70mm
There's only been one version of 24-70mm

EDIT: and it reverse extends it becoming longest at it's widest (24mm)

Im still struggling to see any referance to a mkII... but im tired.

With Hood@24mm
Without Hood@24mm
Without Hood@70mm

And beaten too the comparisons...

They are weather sealed yes, but if air can come and go then dust must surely find it's way in eventually:bang:
