Yes
This may well have been asked before but as the search function is fubar at the moment I had to start a thread.

I was wondering what the score was with regards to using hoods to help keep rain of the front of a lens, especially for motorsport. Any specific type, make and so on and are expensive ones any better than cheap alternatives?
What should I be looking for quality wise etc.

Cheers all
Chris

As you are using a crop camera then in some cases you can get away with a different hood (If one is available). Although for the telephoto offerings chances are the hood the lens is designed to use will be the best option.

I'd be more concerned about keeping persistant rain off the camera than the lens element...

i you are shooting at motorsports and you get spray/ sideways rain there in not alot you can do at all. Just keep the body and bulk of the lens dry with a rain cover
