Hello There!

i Recently purchased a Canon 7D camera with a 15-85MM kit just over a month ago from Hong Kong dealer "Digital Rev" and although i am very happy with it, i have been looking for quotes for insurance and alot of companies in the United Kingdom (UK) have turned around to me and said they wont insure it as it was purchased from Hong Kong.

I dont really feel comfortable taking it too far from home at the moment because of this, and since i want to work as a nightlife photographer its something that is really essential to my needs, So i was wondering if anyone could recommend any trustworthy insurers that would insure my camera Thanks for reading.

Endsleigh only asked me about cost of kit; plus, if it's under £1k per item which is probably is, just about as a body and lens separately, it doesn't have to be covered under photography explicitly which is also slightly cheaper.

Shouldn't really matter where it's from as long as you have a receipt?

I use Photoguard to insure both mine and the wifes gear and have never been asked where the items came from. As long as I've supplied the serial number and a replacement price that's all I've needed. It's also easy to add and remove items from the list at any time. You can find them here https://www.jltonline.co.uk/secure/Photohome.asp?product=Photo&promCode= and get an online quote easily enough.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.

My kit is insured on my house contents under "home & away", so if burgled it is covered and if stolen while out shooting it is covered too. No one has ever asked about where I brought it from, as this should nbot really matter.

Mine is also on house insurance, home and away. Although we listed it as a single item. IE out and the whole bag gets lifted, it is more than 1k....
