Hi,
Im used to using a 5D mk2 in clubs on P mode or Av with 580 EXII, which normally gives a shutter speed in the reagion of 80, and F2.8 to 3.5, I usually like to bump up the ISO to 1250 to collect ambient light, more atmosphere etc.
However Iv recently got a 1D mk3 and had ago of that last night (want it for its robustness and water proof features) and this behaves quite abit differently.....
Again I hit ISO 1250, but on P mode it seems hell bent on sticking to a 125th/sec shutter speed and anywhere between F2.8 to 5.6, also in Av mode it doesnt seem to want to do 'auto flash' or behave like Av mode does on the 5Dmk2.
Now essentially I want the 1D to 'p mode' to a say 60th'sec shutter speed and keep around F2.8.... obviously I tried this in manual and it works ok but it doesnt compensate for subtle changes in light like say the 5d mk2 would.
All have ETTL-II enabled...but im confused why the 1D will only work with flash in P mode..and behave as though there is no flash in all other modes even though triggering the shutter sets the flash off.
Iv dived into its menus of course but everything seems to be in order....
So obviously im missing something here, of course you could say just use the 5D but I want to master the behavior of the 1D also, thus gaining more knowledge, of course 125th/sec works ok with the 1D and it takes nice pics, but I have noticed a slower shutter lets more ambient in (obviously) and I prefer that, so why does the 5D behave differently? - where am I going wrong here guys ?
