Mind's gone blank - please assist ....

Canon 40D.

Manual mode. Dial on top changing shutter speed - big dial not changing aperture .... how do I get it to do that ?

Do you only have the on switch on point one as I think you need to have the on switch fully on to use the dial.
 
dont you have to put the On/Off switch into a different setting for aperture ?

there's On, Off and a line joining to the wheel. i think you need it on that line ?

edit: i only know this because a friend has a 40d and i was teaching them how to use it :P
 
Sorted.

Was doing all the above without looking down the lens. When I did I realised I had the dial set for the AF rather than the little stick controller. Now corrected that and having no probs!

When i first got my 40D i just turned it on and didn't notice the line and it going over an extra nudge, was miffed when I couldn't work why the aperture was not changing

Went "ooooooooooooooooooooohhhh" after reading the manual! :bonk:
