Just thought i'd share this quick non scientific test!
A few weeks ago I was deciding between a 2nd hand Canon f4 70-200 L or a Sigma f2.8 70-200 EX Mk1. They are both around the same price 2nd hand and i'd read that the Sigma EX's are supposed to be as good quality as the L's
I bought the Sigma and once i worked out how to use a 2.8 zoom properly I was getting some very sharp shots and I was very happy.
Anyway a friend of mine the other day bought a F4 L, so thought to compare we'd go out and do a couple of test shots.
this is just one of them, both len's were at f5.6 at about 200mm about the same shutter speeds as well
Straight out of the camera's , no processing at all, just enlarged to a 100% crop in bridge
One shot was taken with a 20D with the Sigma F2.8, the other one was with a 7D and the Canon f4 L
The white balance is different as the 20d was on auto, the 7d on cloudy.
I dont think there's much in it, and im very pleased with my used sigma compared to a new L, but care to guess which ones which?
Thanks
Chris
