Quick option shoulder to wrist strap?

I have a high end compact - Nikon P7700 - and sometimes want to use it with only a wrist strap attached and sometimes with the neck strap attached but need a better solution.

I currently have both attached but when I use the wrist strap the camera is hard to get in/out my bag so it hangs out as I don't zip the bag fully closed.

So is there anything (neck strap) made for compacts that can click on & off (easily) the two lugs at each side of the camera?

Hi John, any of the usual type of strap can be adapted for quick attachment/release. Simply fit a keyring belt loop clip to each end of the strap and clip them into the rings on the camera body. stick another on a wriststrap and that can be clipped on instead if required.

PS Bought the camera last November & went out for a very very short walk one teatime - 50 yards away to the bench next to the river but forgot it was getting dark - so took one shot and it was rather dark :lol:

Another day decided to go the same bench when the sun was out. Got there and couldn't believe I forgot the sodding camera :lol:

Still I like fiddling with it :D

Yup, them's the clips I mean. They're often sold (in plastic) in charity shops, so you get the extra little warm glow from helping others when you buy them! Worth giving them a good pull to check the plastic ones, although I've only had one break (I'm sure I lay on it!) and one wear out in many years of use.

Glad to hear you're managing to get out for a gentle walk, even if it isn';t very far. I'm guessing that means you're feeling rather better! Also glad that you're still trying to take pix as well as PPing existing ones - we all forget things from time to time!

I know you are not a PP fan but it's the one thing that has kept me sane. Especially having bought LR4 in the past month as I am obsessed with it. So if I can't do much of the front end (take 'em) I'll still keep my interest up by attending to the back end (PP) :D

I'd still have loved a DLSR, and to be able to wander the countryside looking for shots, but that's life.

Sane? Everything's subjective!!! :D Once the Sun's out :cool: and the temperature rises a bit, I'm sure you'll be a bit more able to get out and about a bit more :thumbs:. You never know, someone might even turn up to drag you out for a cup of coffee...
 
Well my wife trawled around Newton Abbot for key ring clips & I've ended up with two bright green clips which are OK but not long term. However it has made me have a good look at the problem and what would be perfect is a strap from a Lowepro camera case as it is strong enough, thinner than the Nikon one that came with the camera and has clip type ends that would clip straight on the lugs each side of the camera.

So where can I buy a strap without the case unless someone on TP has one kicking around :thinking:

Basically Op-tech use a plastic connector which are designed to be interchangeable.

So you'd put the two connectors on the camera then connect one up to the wrist strap. And when you want to have a neck strap you unclip the wrist strap and clip both into the neck strap.

I was very dubious at first about how much load these plastic connectors can hold and wasn't sure about them.

So I bought the bigger sort designed to go on the DSLR's and put it to a big test. My heaviest combination was around 2.3Kg (Camera & lens). I attached a 6KG weight and shook it all around by the connector. It didn't budge.

So they are very strong. I do like the flexibility and they are quite comfortable. Very competitively priced too.

Might be worth a call to Mifsuds? Best send K to pick it up without you though - or leave the cards at home!!!
 
Good point Nod Mifsuds may have one kicking around.

Leave cards at home - I know my brain is not what it used to be but not sure if get that. (K sends her regards)
 
Credit/debit cards + Mifsuds = expensive... Possibly less so for a non-SLR shooter!
 
OMG I can't believe I was so thick :bonk:

Thank goodness I am NOT a DSLR shooter but I am still a major faffer making decisions about my little one - camera that is :D
