Quick question re Vanguard Tripod

Would be grateful if anyone has a Vanguard Alta tripod could they let me know please if the tripod head mount screw is 1/4" or 3/8"

Getting conflicting information from different suppliers, not keen on using the little adapters so would like to know for sure

I have the Vanguard Alta Pro 284CT. It has the smaller size with an adaptor screwed in next to it for the larger. There is a tool for fixing included and mine dangles from a little string from the centre column. Its a cracking tripod and rather sturdy. I had my manfrotto gimbal thing with 7D and siggy 120-300 OS on it yesterday and it took all the weight easily.

Thanks Jim, that was the one I was looking at, but in the Alta+ range without the whizzy do it all central column

Is it the usual little bushing adapter? not keen on them and is putting me off a bit

Yep. Its quite sturdy and the storage place works well. I have to use the adaptor with the big lens and gimbal and its absolutely fine if that is of any reassurance!
