Quick question

I bought a canon 70-200 f4l last year but I was looking at reviews on kenrockwell.com and I happened to look at the 70-200 and noticed the switches are different between mine and the photos he has on his website.

Is this just because they're probably made at different times or have I bought a dud?

Think it's just been changed at some point by Canon.

The ones on your lens are the same as the IS version shown on Ken's website.

As Stuart says, will have been changed at some by Canon - have a look on the bottom of your lens and you'll see a date code, which will tell you when your's was made...
