Hi, i know there's loads out there, and alot use photoshop ETC and so do i, but still found it useful. Im a software devloper and so i quickly knocked this up not so long ago. Anyway, thought ide put it up here for anyone to use, so ive bruced it up a little.

Dead simple, open it up and drag your jpeg files in.

Just tried to run this and got a false positive but works fine for me well done
 
just had a look on tinterweb and all is fine false positives do come up all the time with new software
 
Hmm, well i am presuming thats a false alarm mate. Got a 100% clean business running machine here for developing.

I presume its todo with the software running within a shell.

Just to show and rest your minds.

If you open your task manager there are two process to my app

The file name "Exif Viewer" and another stdrt.exe Both instances are of the software. Which is why your virus checker doesnt like it.

Its a shame virus checkers have become so strict these days.

Im 100% genuine, and not here to virus computers. If anyone else gets simular reports, please post.

Hi Andy would you like me to email the full sceenshots as there are two and see if you can fathom out why it gives a false positive
 
a virus would not necessarily show up as you suggest. I would remove the link to your software until you have been able to check it against what has been reported.

Just a suggestion....

Foodpoison I and lots of others can recomend photome if you need one it has a 100% record I have used it for 6 months and its acurate
 
Hi, i am the author and i can 100% assure, there is no virus attacthed to this software.

The version that is linked in here, was compiled about 2 minutes before posting. Please of course dont download if you dont trust it. But i can assure you its a false threat.

Hmm, just tried it with Avast online and it's bringing up a postive too (ruling out Dangermouse' system).

Yet, Kaspersky gives it the thumbs up :

And final result gives 2 positives and 1 suspicious out of 39 virus scanners.
I'm no expert but that does look like a false positive to me....IMHO anyway.

Andy its nice to see somone giving away free software but the virus showed up on avast pro so why not try running it through a few free avs and see if they come up with the same or whether its clean as I belive you are genuine or you would have probably done a runner by now as it could be a good bit of software for TPers

Please read the above post, it clears up issues with virus. Compiled exe's with the software development software i use has known to bring up false positives. I am running norton at the moment, and of course that brings up nothing. But then again i know that wouldnt as i develop software on here all the time and it never shows.

Marcel has tried a few which you can view the results for.

Without sounding rude and giving up on my argument, which im not being as i wouldnt like to download software reported with a virus so again, i apologise for any concern caused and ill leave it upto the moderators to re-activate the link or not.

All i can say is, its compiled 2 minutes before posting and contains no virus, and its a known issue that compiled exe from the RAD i use can show false threats.

The data does suggest its a false positive so when Marcel posts the link I will try it and let it on to test it....sorry for any concern Andy

Sorry about removing it, but we do have to be cautious.

I obviously can't offer any guarantees that it's *not* a virus, but I would personally trust it if it were me, based on my results above (Im a Mac user so can't use it anyway lol)

Ill look into adding the shutter count too.

Oh and Marcel, i can compile it in java for use on MAC ;) although like said before, you and most people already have software to do it, i just thought ide put it up for anyone who doesnt.

Well I have tried it and its very good so simple to use still a bit basic but I am sure once you have got some feedback and updated it then it will be a very usefull tool.

Cheers mate. And yes, the emphasis of the software was simplicity.

Oh, and ive just noticed and never really thought about it, as i used it for more my own use theres only some data being converted to the "readable" data and others are still raw data from camera. So ill get updating it later so tags are more readable.

Hi, ok i have uploaded a new version, its the same link and still contains no virus's! lol.

Ok, ive basically added the conversions so tags actually tell you what was used rather than just raw data (e.g. Shutter mode, 1/50 sec ETC)

Also i have added a very fast html export feature. So you can drag your piccies in, click export and it exports the exif data into a html file the same filename as the piccy. Might be useful for some of you.

Anyway, any probs just let me know. Ill continue adding new things in between other projects! :)

just tried it again and its getting better Andy will you be marketing this at anytime as it looks like its going to be as good if not better than some others with some tweaks
 
another thing Andy ...can you do anything with it so I dont have to turn Avast off when I want to use the exif reader I have sent the data to avast as a false positive through the anonymous form to stop it but this could take months lol

Cheers again. And as far as marketing well... my intentions are to keep it free. And somtimes i start drifting away from what my original intention was, a quick, simple exif viewer.

I have developed a version also, that is a exif veiwer, but also does batch functions such as resizing, converting, renaming ETC but like i said, its then not that simple viewer. Although if that would be useful to anyone, then let me know and ill post it up.

Basically, i could add loads and loads of features to it. But i dont have intentions to unless anyone wants me to add specific features that will be usefull to them and then i will.
