Does anyone have one of these? I have just ordered a Kaavie 100M Wireless Remote Control Shutter Release for Nikon D90

Now silly me never thought that I use the hot shoe for an off camera flash cable and the remote I've ordered shows it mounted on the hot shoe.

Am I right in thinking that it fits on the hot shoe just for convienience and not for electrical contact purposes and therefore will work not connected to the hot shoe?
 
I have a similar bit of kit which I bought in New York under the Vello brand. It looks identical to your pictures. You are right in that mine fits into the hot shoe for convenience. Nothing more.

I can't see any reason yours will be different.

I can't imagine its the best bit of kit in the world for this price but it looks like it'll probably do the job. Here is a video of it. It's the same thing under another brand name.....
