positive I've seen some gear to do this somewhere, can't think where :shake:

Suggestions please to protect my D7000 & lenses upto 300mm, got a track day at Thruxton on friday and the weather doesn't look too good :'(

You can buy custom rain covers, but I find a Tesco carrier bag with a hole, then attached to the lens hood with an elastic band works well... other bags are available :D
 
Waitrose do a far better range of carrier i find....;)

Maria - anything wrong with a humble umbrella? Getting a fishing type one and your hands are free to concentrate on the important stuff!

I'll be out in the rain for about 4-5 hours, so need something robust that won't frustrate me and end up shredded on the floor...

I've had a look online at 'storm jacket' and they look ok - does anyone that's used one have any thoughts about it? or alternative suggestions?

ive got a couple of storm jackets, they are quite pricey and there are cheaper alternatives available. my only issue with them is the open back, the camera body can still get quite wet.
 
Pair of old waterproof trousers, cut leg off to suit body/lens length, then cut slit to slide over the lot. Cost, virtually nothing, works well for me!

Canondom or the Nikondom, safe in all weather:thumbs:
 
I was at an airshow at the weekend and the reliable british summer weather did it's usual trick. Thankfully, I'd gone prepared with a couple of Op-Tech rainsleeves for just that situation and I'm pleased to report they did their job admirably.
They have a drawstring to keep it snug around the lens and even with a Sigma 150-500 OS fully extended it was still large enough to keep everything covered. At around a fiver for a pair you can't really go wrong. Small enough to slip into your pocket and fitted in just a few seconds they really are a godsend.
