Random Canal image

Right, this is my first pic for c&c so be as brutal as you like.

I went down to the canal tonight to play with my newly aquired R72 IR filter and was hoping for those nice skeletal xray type effects which needless to say didnt quite come of. I'm still quite new to photo'ing and processing (this was the first time using PSE6 and following a tutorial which didnt quite give the same effect, hmmmm...)

So, anyway, I think the effect is. erm. different(?). Suggestions, comments, critiscisms and advice all greatfully recieved.

hmmm, please click on the flickr as this ^^^ looks a bit soft. The main image looks alot sharper (why would that be?)

Its ok, like the reflection of light on the river, dont like the colour much though.

The Flickr image is sharper. I am not sure how it arrived at the colours it did but the main fault of the image is the dark area to the lower right. The use of a ND grad might have helped balance the scene here. As it stands it doesn't really work for me.
