I've taken pics for some family, they wanted to see them unedited, so I put the JPEGs on a disk for them, promising that when i've finished I'll give them another disk with them all on and if they want prints I'll get them prints. I send the disk down with one of the kids.

I'm not a pro, probably never will be and photography is a hobby but one that i take seriously.

Later that night and all of the pictures are splashed around facebook! Even some where you can see the edge of the backdrop (action shot) so that needed fixing when I edited it. ] A few days later and some of them are scribbled on with some application that the kids think is funny, - looks like paint but on facebook. TBH I'm quite frankly embarressed! Not only by the ones that the kids have scribbled on but that they're not finished! Granted they all have nice comments except for the scribbled on ones.

Now, for me for some experience in kids portraits and cause my niece is a little poser, I suggested a "Pretty Princess Photoshoot Party" for her 7th birthday for her and a couple of friends. A couple of friends has turned into around 10 friends! (I'm a mug! Complete and utter mug!) and I'll do a disk for each child.

Should I do it as a video, pictures and music, to be viewed on a DVD player for each of them? Then if they want prints I'll get them prints (at cost or there abouts - I'm not a pro) and possibly have SIL throw a paddy OR do I say b****r it and just let them have a disk each of all the JPEGs which will end up 1) splashed all over facebook and edited by them, scribbled on by the kids etc and 2) copies printed, possibly really badly, making me look crap? But no paddy off SIL?

Let's face it, once you have a photo (in whatever format) it's yours to do with as you see fit.

Take it as a complement that your pics are being spread around Facebook, they wouldn't bother if they were rubbish!

Turn it to your advantage. Offer to cover kids parties for a suitable fee, and chuck in a CD of the software, so they can muck around with the pics to their hearts' content :D

I suppose it's a compliment, never thought of it like that, thanks.

Doing it as a freebie though, for my niece for her birthday.

She's excited cause none of her mates will have a birthday party like that....though I fear I may have started something now, lol, - I have alot of nieces lol

i have just decided to do exactly that with the wedding photos i am doing next week, will make a lovely slideshow in flash with lovely pixie bits and floaty loveliness, lots of nice music and fluid photo changes. they can come to me if they want to buy prints and they wont have my images to do what they want with

i think thats the best idea and good luck to you! xx

Take it as a compliment. They obviously like the pics. Smile sweetly and don't spoil it ;)

I'm not precious about stuff, but I never give out the really naff pics. I'll leave out the blinking ones, the badly posed ones or whatever. If I had ones that needed extra background patching in, I'd leave them out too until I'd had time to fix them.

But either way, I wouldn't get too stressed about what has obviously been a brilliant session :)
