[Rant] Why Canon ?, Just Why

Just sold my wife on ebay & bought a nice new 7D


So it's time to charge the battery + the 3rd party ones I got from 7day shop. Thought to my self "hmmm the battery covers look identical to the lot I bought for my 300D/30D/50D "


BUT I FOUND THAT THE 7D BATTERIES ARE 1mm BIGGER :bang:


Just why did you do it Canon ?, it wouldn't have killed you to keep the batteries the same physical size

It is a pain. I bought a 5DII and thought I could use the spare batteries in it that I bought for my 40D. Nope, completely different contacts despite being the same shape and size. Very annoying.

If the batteries were all the same Canon couldn't stay ahead of the clone makers to sell you new ones, your loss, their gain :razz:

Just another reason to hate big companies.

Don't worry, Panasonic did it too, and there's a lovely firmware block to stop a lot of third party batteries too.

They changed them from the 500D to the 550D too, something to do with new safety laws in Japan apparently.
