I had to be quick. It was just after 5pm and I couldn't believe how dark it got.

And facing the opposite direction.....

Thanks guys. I must admit I was sure I was going to get drenched, so I fashioned a rather "rudimentary" rain shield for my gripped 40D which worked a treat.

TY very much.
PP on image two consisted of a curves adjustment to make the yellow 'pop' a little more, and blurring the very bottom of the foreground because it was just dirt and stalks lol.

Edit....sorry...I used the old kit lens 18-55mm

Love these, first one is my favourite looks like some horrible rain was cooking up! Now you mentioned the blurring of the foreground on the second it's hard not to notice it though haha

Excellent images. Those rays of light coming down through the first look great. Lovely composition in the first.

For the second, I'd have just cropped instead of blurring as it really distracts the eye.
