Went to a hide near doune today and managed to get these,all taken with the bigma at 500 handheld.Should have taken the tripod.Also managed to drap along the wife with the samsung gx1l

not bad at all, nice set, shame about the wing tags on the kites, i know they are great for ID purposes, but i think they look ugly.

Thinking about going there. Is the hide quite close to the feeding area. I HAVE A NIKON 200-400 VR Lens. Will that be enough

It's ok Ian i know you were'nt being negative and i do agree the wing tags are ugly on a great bird.

Windward i think your lens will be fine ive just posted some taken by my wife with a samsung with lens at 200

I never have much luck photographing red kites, I must try harder, the tags indicate where they were born.

Left Wing Tags

Yellow - Chilterns

White - Midlands

Orange - Yorkshire

Red - Central Scotland

Blue - North Scotland

Green - South West Scotland
