Edit My Images
Yes
I have a Nikon d300, I shoot in RAW but this seems to automatically change into JPEG.on transfer My method of transfer is
A. upload into Picasa
b. transfer into CS3
c. transfer back to Picasa as this is my main library as it is easy to mail/burn etc
The images auto transfer into bridge but the exife shows as JPEG also. The camera is set to" image quality RAW" Ive checked this. Why won't they stay as Raw ? Thank you, Bob.

I think the problem must be with a setting in your processing software.
Try downloading from your camera direct to a folder on your PC (e.g My Pictures) using the software in Windows (Pic and Camera viewer or whatever it is called).
That should give you icons of your RAW (.NEF) files. Now right click on them and open with CS3. They should open as RAW files.

This. I have never understood why people use a piece of software to pull pictures off a memory card, when the ability to do it directly has been available on all the common Operating Systems for over a decade. It's as easy as

1. Plug in camera/memory card
2. Copy photos
3. Paste photos.

I mean, it's like paying someone to tie your shoelaces. What a faff :cuckoo:

Yes, I agree 100%.
I use PSE7 and loathe the Organiser in it. Never use it.
Don't see the need for all the complexity.
I just stick my CF card in the reader and up pops Windows wizard. Couple of clicks and the files are on their way to My Pics. R/click to open them with PSE etc.

Hi Bob,

I think your problem here is Picasa, although I've never used it so can't be totally certain.

I think a better process would be to use Nikon Transfer to get the files off your memory card and onto the computer. You can import the pictures directly into CS3 from there and then into Picasa for cataloguing.

HTH :-)

Thanks to all, Yes it falls on me to better understand the uploading process, Ive been slack, componded by the fact I also have lightroom on a second machine a Mac G5 which cant take CS3 . hence the two sets of problems , you want to see the mess Ive got that in. So Im going to reinstall CS3 on a Pc, add to it Lightroom, Kill the Mac and read very carefully what you all have told me. Called 'THRASHINGS BY INSTALLMENT'. Ill be back. Thanks Bob.
