Edit My Images
Yes
I usually shoot JPEG, however I decided to have a go at editing my pics further and took pics as RAW+JPEG (just incase), but what do I do with them next.

I 'batch' processed them using the software provided(digital photo profesional) to 8 bit Tiff files, though when I tried to look at them using my editing sofware, Corel Paint shop pro, it didn't like the files. What should I do?
If I converted them to JPEG's would I be able to carry out more involved editing where necessary, or would they need to be Tiff files, 8 bit or 16, also what file size should I specify..300, 350?

Most of the pictures don't require much editing and the JPEG is fine, though I have a few which really need help which I'd like to keep

....I have deleted the Tiff files, thought I'd start again:shrug: Please help:help:

I wouldn't bother converting to TIFF (and certainly not 8bit!), just use plain RAW images to do your work on.

Process your Raws in DPP if that's what you have. If they are pinkish adjust the WB. Open up as jpegs in your imaging software, do any further editing/manipulation you wish. Save as TIFF files if you wish to save in a lostless format after editing/manipulation.

I convert to tiffs from DPP and open them in PSP no probs at all.

Do you have tiff files ticked in 'File Format Associations'? Should be under 'Preferences'.

Thank you CT. That's done the trick.
Great! Just to clarify things for you hopefully....

I use DPP to open the images initially. Raw processing gives far greater control over shadows, highlights and white balance than you can get once you've exited DPP (as a tiff or jpeg), so those are the parameters I adjust in DPP, if necessary.

I then output the image to PSP as a tiff as it's uncompressed (non lossy) and I prefer to do the fine tuning of the image in PSP as it's far more flexible than DPP, allowing layers, selective masks etc, etc.

Always keep the oroginal raw file of your keeper images as it's the equivalent of a digital negative and you can always go back to it and start from scratch at a future date if you wish.

..Right. I have been fiddling today:bang: now I see why. I need to do the basic editing in DPP...then save as Tiff.. then continue with Corel/PSP etc

I had processed the raw files to Tiff then was trying to edit ... it wasn't working.:bonk:

Thank you:)
