I've got Photoshop Elements 4 and thats about it. What else do I need?

I've never shot in RAW but now I've got my Nikon D200 I want to start doing so, but have no idea how to deal with RAW images or what software I need.

Where's the best advice / tutorials on dealing with RAW images, or even cd's or books that might help?

Thanks

i owuld guess you will get a raw editor with the camera that should work ok

Unfortunately I didn't get any RAW editing software with it. I got it second hand so wasn't sure if that was normal or not.:cautious:

Well, for processing your raws you could go with:
Camera Raw, if the D200 is supported in the latest ACR for Elements 4
RawTherapee (freeware)
UFRaw (OSS available for free)
RAWHide (I'm not too sure it supports D200)
Nikon ViewNX (not too bad if you're not very demanding).

Thanks (y) will check them out. I did download Nikon ViewNX but everytime I went to use it it just froze up so hopefully I can find something else that works.

I'd love to get Capture but its a bit pricey for me right now so I hope the freebie ones are good :(

I dont know if Sandisk are still doing this offer but when I bought my Extreme III CF card, in the box was a License for Capture One LE. Which I downloaded and it works fine.

But my choice for Raw editing is BreezeBrowser Pro from www.breezesys.com.

Havent checked but suspect they both support your camera

Do you know where I'd have to by one in order to get this offer? Thanks

It's over, it expired some time before Capture One 4 was introduced.
Maybe someone has more than one license so they might give it to you, but I wouldn't bet on it.
