I just purchased a DCR-250 from that well known auction site and it arrived today, sans instructions......... (cannot find them, the seller says) - I tried looking for one online, but could not find any links.

Although its not exactly rocket science to work out how to put it on a lens, as it simply clips on using the adapter.

- I tried it successfully with a 70-200 mm F4 lens and found it reduces the focal length down to ~ 12 cm, but is there anything in the instruction manual that I could benefit from reading?

I would appreciate any pointers please.

Thanks

manual focus then move the camera back n forth until the image is sharp then shoot

there is a thread somewhere showing some macro rigs....an off camera flash cord and a flash velcro'd to the top of your 70-200 might work well...

Thanks for that tip - will try out the flash route, I have got a ringflash, but the Raynox adapter will not fit whilst the ringflash is attached - I could get a step down ring to attach the Raynox - but as its a 43mm mounting thread, will have to try it out on another lens as it would not fit the 70-200 at 67mm. I could try my EF-S 60mm which is nearer at 52mm.

Presumably, the Raynox will transform any focal length lens to a new minimum working distance (MWD) - Is there a formula to work out the new MWD?

i.e. the 70-200 is 120cm reduced to ~ 12cm with the Raynox and tried it with an EF-S 60mm which is 20cm and it reduced down to ~5cm.

I found that if I was near to the MWD, then the camera would auto focus successfully.

Thanks - are the instructions pretty sparse?

are the instructions pretty sparse?

I just dug my copy out of the box........and yes, pretty sparse and really a waste of paper!

If you pm me your email address I'll happily scan them in and send them to you.
