Raynox, magnification qustion

Guys, I am a little stumped, so thought I would ask the question here. Is there anyway to work out what additional mag I would get with the 250? I fancy trying it with my Nikon 105vr with a full set of tubes and 1.4 tc to see what mag I would get. iirc (i havent got the info at hand at the moment but the above set up with out the raynox gives me approx 2.6:1. So what would it be with the raynox?

Are you sure you got that correct, or is it 2.6:1.

Doing a very rought test, my 105VR with just a full set of tubes gives me1.8:1

Sorry, can't help you with the Raynox, I think you would need to do a test.

Borrow one or as I did, bought one from Amazon, tried and tested it, decided it wasn't for me and sent it back for a refund, cost me just the postage.

What bothered me about them is they looked so insecure stuck out in front there just hooked partially onto a couple of filter threads, catch one ear and it would be off.

Not wishing to teach Granny to suck eggs but, if it's magnification your'e after then a Reversing Ring (Nikon BR2A) is the way to go, cost the same or less than a Raynox.

A 50mm reversed onto a full set of tubes will give you about 2:1, stop-down metering is required, but that's no hardship.
