the raynox is a macro addon longer focal lengths. so at wide ends (same as my 18 - 55) it shows that way, but at the end of the focal range (50/55/200/300) etc it will display a good effect
Sometimes the focus can make this happen, if you focus on infinity (it could be the other way round) then it should stop this as focusing can move the filter closer or further away.
The field of view of your lens is greater than the diameter of the raynox, you wont get rid of vignetting using that lens, you need to use a longer focal length lens with a narrower field of view.
I kind of realised I wouldn't be able to use it on that lens, just couldn't figure out why it worked on a 50mm prime but not on 17-50 f2.8 set at 50mm, looking at it now the prime is a lot smaller diameter, will have to get my 18-55mm back out to see what it does on that.
