OK so I have a photo pass for Alisha Dixon tomorrow night at the hexagon :woot: working for the venue. Problem is I'm not sure what lenses I'm likely to need. Low light shooting isn't an issue, D3 and D700 will cope no problem.

I have the 24-70, 50/1.4 AFS, 80-200AFS, 85/1.4, 17-35.

Now assuming I will only have the first two songs ( I assume, had no confirmation on this yet ) I won't have time for lens changes so will just have one on each body. I'm assuming the 24-70 should be on one, but looking for advice on the second lens.

Anyone shot a concert in the Hexagon in Reading?

I'd go with the 80-200 on the other body for closeups and band members further back

This is what I was thinking. No VR at low speeds could be an issue though I guess. I guess the lighting will be "OK" but not sure.

May be worth seeing if they'll let you do a recce during the day or something? Alternatively slip another lens into your pocket just in case

Not an issue now. Just had a call from the people I was working for to say that they've just had an email from Alishas management to say they aren't giving out any photo passes for this gig.

Gutted but guess that's how it goes.

Mate of mine has shot some gigs there. You're pretty close up front so 24-70 is ideal. After your X number of songs down in the pit, just head up to the balcony with something around 200mm and you'll still get some great shots, from a different angle as well.
