Apologies if this is the wrong forum, not really sure where this should go, but...

Can anyone recommend a really good/interesting photo book? I'm not necessarily talking about 'how to...' or technique books, just a nice coffee table book with lots of truly stunning photography. Not too fussy on the subject, although something along the lines of sport, travel or animals would be good.

I spent ages in Waterstones today searching, but never really found anything that appealed. In an ideal world it would be a tour of Route 66, I love all the quirky signs/motels etc, something along those lines would be perfect.

One of my favourite photographers of all time is Henri Cartier Bresson. I guess some of his stuff might loosely fit into "travel". But even if not, they're stunning.

Alternatively, Ansell Adams...

For animals/nature, Concepts of Nature by Andy Rouse springs to mind :)

Sorry, can't help with sports pictures or travel, but at least it's got the list started :)

That's looking good, along the right lines. After seeing his Tiger photos in PP this month I will certainly consider that.

It's a shame Vincent Laforet doesn't have a nice big book out (that I'm aware of), his work covers most of the areas I really enjoy, and his photos have a nice real quality to them which I find very accessible.

A Sense of Place is another good one - but I can't remember who it was by!

Karen Evans book 20 20 is simply stunning - 20" square and a full page photo on every photo page with just a little bit of explantory text. A big investment, but it is iconic. All boating and mostly sailing, but not all.
