I'm thinking to buy a RRS bracket for my D700, and have a couple of questions. Does the 'gripped' version work OK with 3PT brackets (e.g. Meike)? Is it really worth getting the gripped version as opposed to the standard bracket, considering I'd probably be using a cable release, and / or have the camera tethered? On the RRS Website it appears the USB/tether cables cannot be used with the gripped bracket. Are there any ergonomic/comfort issues with handholding the camera with the bracket fitted (after removal from tripod)? I anticipate more use in portrait orientation, than landscape, and find the Meike vertical release OK in most cases.
