Really stumped for kit lens upgrade

Hi Guys,

I am really stuck for what to go for as a replacement to the kit lens.

People keep telling me to look at the Tamron 17-50 2.8, but are there any others out there that I should be looking at?

I guess I have around £300 to spend, I just want to make sure that I spend my money wisely.

Is the Tamron 17-50 2.8 something that I will buy and not regret, and I guess keep when I look to upgrade to a 7D? Or will I find my shots becoming limited with it, and want to upgrade the lens aswell?

Thanks.

Just buy a s/hand Canon 17-55mm IS and be done with it, yes its more than your target price, but might as well get it now rather than later

Would be perfect on the 7D as well

That's about the strength of it, really is the best lens in that focal range without a doubt

The 17-55 IS will be a better upgrade for you than the 7D.. Take it from someone who went from a 40D to a 7D and a Tamron 17-50 to the 17-55 IS.. :)

That said, the Tamron 17-50 is a great lens for the price. I still have it as a backup (well actually I have a problem selling any photo equipment krhmm so I just call them backups)

That's what my other 40D must be then, bought it to replace the very old one, still waiting for its big day and stuck on approx 400 clicks
