Hey everyone,

I was a little careless the other day and put a scratch on the rear LCD screen of the camera. I attempted to remove it with some plastic polish (Meguair's PlastX) and it is now much, much worse! :bang:

There are loads of fine scratches on the entire screen now which actually make it quite hard to see the text or photograph.

I'm just wondering if you can buy a replacement plastic screen from somewhere?

Ah, excellent so its just stuck on with double-sided tape. That'll be an easy job!

Any ideas where I can buy a new screen though?

You could try evilbay, but set search to worldwide.

Have you tried phoning Canon directly or one of the authorised repair shops, I think they will sell you parts

I had a look on eBay but I only found screen protectors unfortunately...

Thanks for the service link Fezzr, I'll e-mail one of the authorised repair shops local to me for a price of the plastic screen.

Got a pretty generic sounding reply from A J Johnstone today, "from your description we believe your equipment requires a repair, the approx cost would be £80 + VAT and carriage."

80 quid for a bit of plastic, nah, I think I'll live with it for a while or keep googlin' in hope!

Before you try anything else buy some rubbing compound, polish up after.

Should remove all your scratches

I know Brasso is good for removing scraches from wrist watch glass, don't know about lcd screen but if its knackered anyway? Maybe worth a go.
