Been thinking of purchasing a Fuji FinePix HS10 for general walk about camera and to use while birding so I would be interested in any view's the more experienced Togs might have with this thought. :shrug:

Thanks in advance...

John

As good as the Fuji FinePix HS10 is for a bridge (and has a lovely zoom) Why dont you just get a general walkabout lens for your 1000D?? I wouldnt have thought bridge cameras would be particually good for birding? I could be wrong...

I wouldn't spend over £300 for a compact when you could get some glass for your Canon.

The reasons NOT to buy are:
* not great ISO performance
* much worse colour reproduction
* slow AF and slow in general - not suitable for anything moving
* loses value very quickly
* doesn't even fit in a pocket
* it is a compact

Are you saying this would be to use as well as your 1000D - so use the 1000D + your current lens for birding and this for general shots?
