Reassessing my gear

I am in a situation where I received some items on insurance and bought others in the meantime as I needed it for a trip.
So I have the following now::eek:

Canon 1DSmkII
Canon 5DmkII
Canon 450D
Canon 17-40 f4 L
Canon 16-35 f2.8 L II
Canon 70-200 f4 L IS
Sigma 70 f2.8 Macro
Sigma 50 f1.4

My uses are 90% landscape, 10% travel/ people.

What would you buy/ sell? I have always been very tempted by the Zeiss 21 f2.8 Distagon...:thinking:

Keep 5dii, 17-40, 50. Sell rest and buy a house.

Haha, true.
If it was me, I'd keep both bodies, nice to have the pro chunkiness of the 1DS but also handy to have the smaller 5D if you want to travel light etc, the 16-35, the 70-200 and the 50 and sell everything else and get the Zeiss. Then in 6 months I'd look at how much I was using the 16-35 in place of the Zeiss and maybe sell the 16-35 *** I don't think it'd be getting much use.

Yep, definately gonna sell one of the two - probably the 16-35 to help fund the Zeiss Distagon!

At the moment I am thinking to

Keep:

5DmkII
Canon 17-40 f4 L
Canon 70-200 f4 L IS
Sigma 50 f1.4
Sigma 70 f2.8

Buy:
Zeiss 21 f2.8 Distagon

Sell:
Canon 1DSmkII
Canon 16-35 f2.8 L

As you say I'll see how much I use the wide angle zoom (and then maybe sell it!)
 
Are you thinking you'd keep the 17-40 f4L and sell the 16-35mm f2.8L purely from a finacial point of view or because the 16-35 isn't noticeably better or is actually poorer?

The 1DSII must be nice but if you don't need the pro chunkiness or weather sealing then the 5DII is probably good enough and does vid.
 
Thanks for the replies. In following with your advice I will hold judgement until I receive the 5DmkII but at the moment I am thinking to sell the 16-35 II in addition to either the 1DSmkII or Sigma 70mm+450D. I was always happy with the 17-40 and only purchased the 16-35 to get the northern lights with at 2.8.

I would then buy either 21 ZE or now thinking of the TSE 24 mkII alongside the 17-40.

Which would you get to accompany the 17-40?

Well, I'd get the TSE24, but I've an interest in perspective correction for architectural use. I do a lot of it in PP at the moment, but it would be nice to get it right in camera and keep my pixels tidy.

What's important to you?
 
Keep the 5DII, the 70-200 and the 16-35. That should do you for pretty much everything.
 
If you are planning on getting a wide prime, I'd stick with the 17-40 and get rid of the 16-35.

Not too sure on bodies, having owned a 1D series I didn't like it for travel/landscape due to the weight, yes the build quality and AF are better, but I felt it was too much of a tradeoff for the extra weight, hence going for a 5D.
