If value for money is a consideration, you can't go wrong with the 50mm f/1.8 II - the so-called nifty-fifty. Very good for low light work and portrait photography.

Think Kerso is the cheapest for this currently.what kind of stuff do you want to do? Are you wanting to do Macro shots? there are some zoom lenses that can do a fair Macro shot but if you want true Macro then you want dedicated and TBH it may be worth spending on a better qualty Zoom (70-300 IS)and an extension tube to do Macro untill you are sure

when i say close up i love to shoot flowers as for zoom i like to do landscape my budget is affraid £150 so if i can get 1 decent one for close up will do for now then i can safe again hope this helps sorry for not being more pacific earlier and thankyou for your responses.. 
did you get the kit lens? if so at 18-55 it should do for your lanscape shots as you want it nice and wide (I thought anyway).
as someone has said try the Canon 55-200 lens for about 150 new or you can go for a IS version secondhand for about 190 http://www.mifsuds.com have one in the secondhand section at the moment or look in the classifieds
