Yes
I have a Slingshot 200AW, but I find it a bit lacking for my current kid.

My requirements are that it should be capable of holding -

  • D200 with grip + 500mm lens attached.
  • Couple of 50mm lenses.
  • D40 with a 55mm attached.
  • Speedlight.
  • And can carry a tripod.

Preferably less than £100.

I think that could be just the ticket, sure I've seen it in my local Jessops for under a £100 before. :D

i really like it for when i'm being indecisive because it lets me carry almost every thing i use and i have weighed it with 30 kilos of gear in it.:cuckoo:
the straps etc have coped very well with that weight and is has still been comfortable, just flipping heavy.
but lugging that around for a day can be pretty tedious so your body makes you more discerning about what you take.

The Kata R-103 is superly comfortable and very well designed. Has loads of internal sections where small stuff like batteries, spirit level etc can go.

Also features a zip around lid, so that you can get quick access to the camera.

Very high quality innovative bag IMHO! :-)

Ive got the Tamrac expedition 5, its an awesome bag and holds a great deal of gear, recommended:thumbs:

I generally use my slingshot 200AW for specific situations where I know the kit I will be using, e.g. summer fair, with a 40D, wide zoom, standard zoom and flash.

Otherwise I use a Dakine sequence when on a trek type outing where I want more kit and my tripod. The sequence is a great bag, designed for snowboarding with camera gear, it has some great featues and cost less than £100.

Well I went into town today and decided to see what I could squeeze my kit into, came home with a Lowepro Mini Trekker.

Pretty pleased, it feels comfortable enough and has quite alot of space for cards/batterys etc.

Dakine Photo Mission 2007 or 2009

I've got a 2009 black one, yeah its maybe a bit bigger than it needs to be (its a bag inside a bag), but its damn comfy, carries two lensed up bodies + flash + stuff + pouch for cards, batteries films + a proper water bottle holder OUTSIDE of your kit + can ACTUALLY hold a proper tripod (slik pro400/440dx similar to a Manfrotto 190x, and 2.5kgs) it can hold a tripod so well you can run full tilt with it, and the tripod not clatter around.

With MOST of the lowepro bags that say they can carry a tripod, the max is really a manfrotto modo/718 kind of sized pod (<1kg) and even then, its usually on elasticated bungees which stretch and allow your pod to whack you in the back of the head, the lower back, the back of the legs or fall off all together. bit pants really when you can be spending upto £140 on one of them.

the Dakine goes for about £60-80 new posted. got mine new posted for £59 :)
Its made from the usual cordura type fabrics and robust zips & clips, the back padding is brilliant, the sternum & waist straps are robust, it has a waterproof cover, though not needed unless its amazon type rain. Only thing I don't like about it is the relative bulk considering the amount of kit you can get in it, and the zips 'jangle' like mad, I put some black electrical tape on them to keep them quiet.
