rechipping lenses

how is this done?

I have seen somebody talking about rechipping a minolta rokkor 1.4 / 1.7 and making it af on a sony dlsr?

Anybody know how that is done?

It can't be. You can attach an A mount flange and rechip it to give focus confirm in an Alpha viewfinder but it'll still be manual focus. If you're thinking of doing this for a 50mm prime it's not worth the trouble. By the time you source a flange from a defunct AF lens and get the chip programmed you might as well just buy a second hand Minolta AF F1.7 and have full autofocus. Rokkor 50mm F1.2 lenses have been rechipped though, again only with focus confirm, no AF. Some say that it's worth the trouble, simply because F1.2 lenses aren't available in AF mount.
