OK, I've spent hours poring over reviews and reports and I've now reached the stage where nothing makes sense anymore. 
What I need is a replacement for my Nikon 18-135mm lens but I also need the following :
An FX lens so I can use it on my F401 and F3.
An aperture ring so I can use it on my F3.
Sharpness as I do a lot of still life/close up work.
Under £300 (don't mind second hand).
Build quality must be good and solid.
Focal length doesn't need to be wider than 16-24mm or zoom to more than 70-135mm.
I don't need it to be particularly fast in focusing. F2.8 would be useful but not necessary throughout the zoom range.
So I don't want much do I? Any suggestions based on personal use would be much appreciated.
