im looking for a good point and shoot compact camera. i havent bought one in years so have no idea what ones are good, id spend up to £200.
the ones that sound good are the canon Powershot SX200 IS Digital Camera and nikon Coolpix S8000 Digital Camera.
but i dont know if they are actually good, my old compact is a fujifilm and that is really good so dont know if i should go with a fujifilm, what do you think?

Hello,

In my family we all have Canon IXUS 82 IS which I think is a Jessops only model. It seems adequate as a point and shoot to me and my sisters both take theirs around the world with them and take hundreds of shots and video clips. One advantage of the canon compacts is that some have a viewfinder, it's pretty poor but better than nothing.

One of my sisters had a Coolpix (I forget the model) and it was slow and noisy so I'd be careful and give whatever model you're looking at a good try first.

Other than that the Panasonic range seems to be well thought of at the moment and might be worth looking at.

Good luck.

what one is better, id be taking pictures of either landscape or close up (macro type) shots. what i really want it detail in the image, i only print as 6x4 usually. this camera is to carry around all the time when the slr is to bulky.
i really dont know i have narrowed it down to 4 that are similiar spec, but the nikon seems better spec'd but reviews are mixed
options are the
canon Powershot SX200 IS
nikon Coolpix S8000
panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ8
fujifilm Finepix F80 EXR

i really have no idea....

From what I've read in the reviews, the TZ6 and TZ7 have better image quality than the newer TZ8 and TZ10. Although the newer models now have manual control I would rather go with the Fuji or older panasonic models.

When I bought myself a P&S recently, I went with the Sony HV5 because of the poor (mixed) reviews on the latest panasonic TZ10, plus I liked the panaramic facility it had.
