recommend a teleconvertor for Nikon

I have a need for ONE day a zoom reach further than my 16-85 so no point buying a new lens and hiring is a bit expensive so wondered if its worth getting a 2X teleconvertor and turning my lens into a 32-170? or are there better ideas?

It's going to make your lens very slow isn't it?

The only 2x TC that is going to work with any lens is the Kenko 2x TC which is going to cost around £150. It will work but would turn your lens into a VERY slow lens and reduce the quality further. I would suggest that £150 would get you a better final image spent solely on a 2nd hand lens.
