Yes
Expensive glass and I want to protect it. I'll be using the lens for all types, from outside candids to indoor sports - want something I can stick on and forget about. Any recommendations?

Would this be a bad tome to say the lens hood will provide the best protection most of the time?

If so, just watch out for flare indoors when using the filter.

Yes, I know the arguments for and against, but think I'd feel safer having a decent filter on there. If IQ suffers or when lights indoors look like it might cause problems, I'll remove it. Thanks for the pointer though.

Fair play. The best thing you can do is keep an eye out for the likely scenarios. Any instance where there is a light source in the frame is at greater risk, this can be the same for indoor & outdoor spoorts that have extra lighting.

On a side issue, how are you finding the 70-200?

Haven't had a chance to use it yet. Hope to take it out for the first time tomorrow. :)

If you must, then Hoya HD would be my choice - highest quality, tougher glass and easy-clean coatings.
