Recommend me a pair of monitors....

Morning all , I'm after recommendations for a pair of monitors for photo editing. Must be bigger than 22" and accurate colour as they are used as print stations.

My budget is about £250 ish a screen but happy to have feedback from cheaper or more expensive screens too.

Iiyama are always worth a look.....

I got a 27inch in 2011, it's absolutely spot on.

Although I got mine on Amazon, I would suggest heading over to Overclockers UK, as they often have weekly/monthly specials on selected end of line monitors and the reviews/forums are brutally honest.

god no ,they look honest because they ban anyone who says there anything but wonderful ,i had to start court proceeding to get a refund from them

What I mean is, they're reviews from more techincally minded people, not the technophobic numpties you find reviewing on Amazon..... Like one fool (made me laugh actually) that wrote an entire 1 star review, whinging about a product that wouldn't work with zinc carbon batteries or with 1.2v NiMH rechargable batteries, despite the product stating very clearly that 1.5v Alkaline batteries MUST be used.

Some of the DSLR reviews are laughable.

People with very little technical knowledge can talk some real complete utter nonsense about these sorts of things. Usually because they run their mouthes before checking to see whether it's them or the product that is truly at fault.
 
If you can stretch an extra 50-odd quid, DGM do an excellent IPS 27" monitor. Imac resolutions, and amazing colour. I've got one in my studio and it's brilliant.
 
Thanks for all of your replies - gives me something to think about. I quite like the idea of two 27" monitors.

I couldn't agree more. You are doing critical color work so this is paramount.

You will also need a calibration device than can sort out both monitor and printer. Do not try to skimp on this step as this would negate the investment to the monitors.

Dell make good ones. I'd look into u2713H / HM, or u2711.
U2410 might be good budget - used alternative. u2413hm is sadly only 6bit - not recommended for critical work. You want at least 8bit native IPS panels.

Finally for 27" ones you will need 2x Dual link DVI or display port output. Forget HDMI or normal DVI (1080p HD max - OK for 24"), and don't even think about VGA (old ****)
