recommend me a tripod for macro

Dont want to spend a fortune but probably will needs to take my d200 fitted with a grip and sigma 105mm, also is worth adding a focusing rail?.
 
I use a Manfrotto 055XPROB which does the job for me with a 5d mk III and Canon 100mm macro lens. It 'articulates' which is handy for macro:

For focusing on macro I tend to tether to my laptop and control it from there.
 
Bought a benbo getting on for 30 years ago and still using it,i know its not fashionable but it will go anywhere and do anything.

I use a vanguard 284cb for macro but they do aluminium versions as well. The giottos ytl models are similarly versatile and also worth a look.

I Use a Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod and Manfrotto 494RC2 Mini Ball Head great because it goes flat to the ground real low so great for fungi and small flowers, also its strong enough to take a gimbal head for my long lens and also good for your focus rail, youll also need a carrying strap as they dont come as standard :)
 
I second the Benbow suggestion, other than that check out Ebay for used Gitzo stuff, its the best.
 
Cheers guy's I think I'm going to go for the 055xprob and I'm watching a few rails looking forward to using the sigma 105 in anger:)

Thanks for this looked at a few reviews on youtube and value for features is really good! My Argos Manfroto is really annoying me!
 
nobody mentioned Giottos MTL9351B or Giottos MTL9361B with Giottos MH1300 Head ?
 
My mind was made up untill an hour ago been offered a benbo trekker mk3 compact with ball head for £25 so gonna buy it try it maybe sell it if I cant get on with the legs and then prob buy the 055xprob:lol:
