So, I'm coming back into photography after a year or so out. My last kit was an A55 with 50mm f1.4 lens-A combo I loved.

I can grab an A58 body for around £300 and I'd like a lens that will perform in a similar way as the 1.4, but my budget this time round is £200.

So in summary:
Low light performance
Speed
Good DOF
All for £200.... is this even possible!?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Minolta 24/2.8 or Minolta/Sony 20/2.8 ?

If that's too wide & 35mm is enough then the 35/1.8 DT is a no-brainer (build is light but optically it is very good).

Tamron 17-50 f2.8- wide to standard field covered and makes fora good walk about lens.

You can get a manual 1.4 50mm for 60quid or so, I'd go with Pentax. I got a lovely yashica, but needs the pin pushed in for apature.... :-(
