Hi

I'm a newbie, got my 1st dslr at the weekend a canon 500d and am wanting to get a bag to put it in.
Could do with one thats big enough to shove my purse and phone in too and maybe odd bits as i generally have my 4 month old attached to me at all times.
Can anyone suggest one?
Thanks:)

edit : sorry, not sure i've put this in the right place.

Hi

Are you after a shoulder or backpack style bag?

Have a look at the Billingham range - 1st class. I got my first one 30+ years ago - still in daily use.

Believe me mate I've had about 11 camera bags so far and none the best. But the best one I've had is the one I've got now, a cheap canvas messenger bag off eBay with a few pockets but it's not a camera bag. You just buy a DSLR protective wrap off eBay for a fiver to protect the camera and then chuck it in any bag you want plus thieves can't identify that there's a camera in there because there's no photography brands all over the bag.

for a backpack, I've got the Lowepro Orion AW, which is great for a small bag. Bit of room for stuff when you go out for the day, and protects it well

Have a look at these posts:

The other thing to take into account is if you will be carrying everything with you when you are out and about. Once you get into phoptography you find that your kit may expand.

I bought a cheap back pack from Amazon which I leave at home and holds all my kit. I take my Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW and either the 50mm or 35mm with my 55-200mm lens.

Once you have decided what you want, go into a shop and see how it feels with your camera and lens in it before buying.

For price on the lowepro bags have a look here:

I've got a tamrac Adventure 8 backpack which has plenty of side pockets, zippy bits and wotnot as well as room inside for a body and several lenses. It is easier to carry round than a shoulder bag. It was free with a magazine sub years ago. Never used it until recently but it has become the bag I take out most of the time.

Thanks everyone, will look into it all. Sep9001, i do like the look of the crumplers.
