My new job means i'm travelling a lot all over the country and so far there have been so many times i wished i had my camera with me!

Much as i would love to have my DSLRs and lenses it's too much gear to carry along with the high possibility of soaking or breaking things means i'm thinking of a 2nd hand compact or bridge camera!

Anybody got any recommendations i don't want to spend a fortune hence the plan to grab a 2nd hand one that somebody's bored with.:)

I have a bridge and would say its still a fairly bulky item - and wouldn't just fit in a coat pocket. I find I don't carry it around that often as it would mean always carrying a bag. Suggest a compact (my friends still seem to to get great results with something like an ixus) - or what about getting a mobile with a good camera?

Cheers maybe i'd be better to look at compacts i've never really looked at bridge cameras to judge their size!

My phone has a decent enough camera but i took a few shots last week and the results weren't great!

try the fuji f50 if you can get one, I use one underwater last year in TEgypt and was very impressed with the result from this camera.

Cheers! Out of interest did you need an external strobe with the diving shots?

I've been tempted to buy a camera for diving and surfing so this might be an excuse to buy one for taking to work and get the underwater housing for playtime!:)
