Recommendations for backpack type bag?

Basically I have a lowepro stealth reporter 300 which is a great back, however it's an across the body strap, which is grand, but I can't use that and use the chest mount of a gopro at the same time on me scooter.

So, Im thinking that a backpack should work and not interfere with the chest mount, but I only need something that will literally carry the 5d with a 24-70f2.8 lens plus of course a wee pocket for batteries and cards.

Im not stuck on it being a lowepro either especially as ive had a look on their bagfinder and nothing seems to fit the bill :-(
 
Hi there. Can't tell you a specific model but why not give think tank a look? I found the backpack I bought really good and well thought out - I use it on flights. :)

Just been looking at the thinktank choices and quite like the streetwalker ones but think they're too big for my needs. very nice though.

The mirage 6 looks quite good actually, closer to what I want than the thinktank offerings.

Crumplers look too much like they are made for streetcred to me, don't like the look or access of them at all :-(

The kata bags though do look good, of course I thought the http://www.katabags.co.uk/3n1-20-dl-sling-backpack looked perfect until I found the picture where the backpack mode is basically both slings used at once so is like a cross your heart bra :-)

So currently looks like the gearpack 60dl is in the lead :-)

Thought about this but I'd rather buy a dedicated set up for my needs to be honest.

Too big plus its not a proper backpack as its got the same cross your heart setup which would go right across the gopro chest harness.
 
Depending on what you are carrying, but I have a ThinkTank Streetwalker which takes a gripped body with a 300 f4 and 1.4 EX attached (just) with room for a 70-200 f2.8 and a few other bits such as the odd filter and a wider (50 or 35mm) lens. The outer pockets are not that roomy, but it's a very comfortable backpack, and it's been brilliant in the 2 years or so I've had it. Being a biker too, I wouldn't go for anything much bigger as it affects your balance when you move around on longer trips.
 
Just saw your post regarding the Streetwalker (that'll teach me :rolleyes: ) It's not as big as you think, and it's fairly light. It's size is made up in it's length, rather than being too wide or too deep, if you get what I mean.

The smallest backpack version is the 350 though and is way too big, if the sling 150version wasn't a sling it'd likely be perfect :-(

Still be too big for my needs though :-( the photo on the website at http://www.thinktankphoto.com/products/streetwalker-backpack.aspx that shows the camera with short telephoto with several lenses and a flash? everything except the camera itself is just not needed for this particular need of mine.

I almost think what i ideally want doesn't exist, its like i need a toploader but with a backpack harness http://store.lowepro.com/toploader-pro-70-aw
 
you can use the kata sling bags like a normal backpack, thats how we always use ours, you dont need to cross strap it :), they have a waist belt too
