Recommendations on Laptop

Hi - i need to invest in a laptop with a large memory, large screen and il be adding an external hardrive for extra backup. I checked out PC world but dont really know exactly what to ask for or look at. Ive got a £700 budget, i already have my software such as CS4 & Lightroom 2 to install. Hope you can help? thank you
 
FWIW if you want the large screen because you are editing pictures then you may be better off getting a desktop computer with a separate monitor.

A 17" laptop is about as big as it gets with a laptop but they are pretty big and heavy so not ideal for carrying around but if it needs to be mobile then this is the way to go.
However I would look and see if you could get away with a 14" or 15" screen as they are much more easier to transport.

If its just for use at home then a desktop PC is definitely the way forward. will get a bloody good spec machine for your budget with a decent monitor too. This will give you more scope for upgrading as time goes by.
 
thanks paul - ive already got a desktop but the kids are using it lots so i need a separate workflow machine, one that i can use in the kitchen or around the house (separate room to the kids lol) and out and about. should i go back to pc world or would you recommend somewhere else?
 
It all depends on what you want really. PC world isnt going to be the cheapest but at least you get to walk in and walk out with one.

Is the big screen a must or are you open to others? Once I know I can have a little look at what is available to you
 
i would rather a larger screen than smaller but open to options. it will mostly be used for loading lots of images and editing. i would purely be using it for my photography and maybe a few letters spreadsheets and internet.

Also if you talk to them about the demo models they cant half knock the price down on them so you can sometimes get a great deal. And if you do decide to purchase from either of them it is worthwhile doing the reserve and collect first, saves you a fair few quid too.
