Recommendations please for a "non-photography" backpack

I'm looking for a suitable backpack for the lady in my life to just carry waterproofs, water, and the obligatory chocolate :D on a couple of day treks in the Peak District.

We wont be trekking anywhere too strenuous as I'm knocking on a bit :bonk: but we will be out all day. I'll be carrying my waterproofs etc and the camera gear in and on my Tamrac Expedition.

Do you have any suggestions for a nice comfortable backpack for her?

Best thing is to find a big outdoor shop and go and try a few on. You tend to find that different manufacturer's offerings fit some body shapes better so well worth trying several.

In terms of features, make sure it's got a padded waste strap as a minimum and look for some sort of back system that allows air circulation around the back. All the leading brands offer something along those lines.

Other features that may or not be useful are waterproof cover (good for very heavy rain otherwise most bags are reasonably good) and a camelback pocket and opening.

Hey there, I bought two Camelback Cloudwalkers for my and the gf, we used it to cycle to brighton for the L2B event.
Can't fault it! Comfortable, lightweight, huge capacity and has a 2litre bladder. Also has a little fold away rain cover.

But as Graham says, best to try for yourself. What works for me might not work for you :)
 
i have a swissgear pegasus, honestly THE best bag ever, it can carry anything you want, well, nearly :P
