Recommended brands for screw-in CPL filters?

I thought I knew quite a lot about filters but am suddenly confused with all these new ranges from different manufacturers -

I am in the market for a new CPL but obviously don't want to buy rubbish glass that will compromise quality more than necessary.

Am I right to think I should avoid most of the Hoya and Tiffen range, and will be safe with B+W, Marumi or Kenko?

Looking to spend about £40 max on a 49mm thread CPL if anyone can recommend me one.

Hoya pro1 are fine, never used Tiffen so cant comment.
I use a Kood which Ive had no issues with and wasnt really expensive. About £50 for a 77mm.

Hmm, can't seem to find a 49mm size for Hoya Pro1...
