Hi all.

I am looking at getting a Nikon reconditioned d300s, and i was wondering if anyone knows what they do to recondition them.
would they be as good as new? especially when it comes to shutter count?

hi chris, thats where I saw it. was wondering what they do to rec it.
don't want to spend that kind of cash in a rush!!!
 
the anticipated shutter life is 150,000, I wouldnt worry about shutter count! £779 with 6 months Nikon warranty is a pretty decent deal. It's an excellent camera still getting to grips with mine.
 
Ive always taken the view that they'll be better than new.

Think, on the production line, you have hundreds of cameras every hour. There is no way they can check them all intricately.

A refurb, should have had special one on one handling with a technician and any issues should have been fixed and given a clean bill of health. I imagine the sensor is cleaned, the body is cleaned and its just generally given a good going over.

I bought a refurb Canon 50D and it had about 120 shots on it. It cost about £200 less than the going rate and still had Canon warranty.

I have been looking at the d300 as well. is the only difference the hd movie and faster fps?
I have no use for the movie mode and only ever use single shot.

I totally agree, I've got both. A D200 and D300, they are both great cameras but I pick the D300 up first most times just because of the af, plus I prefer the joysick on the Mb-d10 for changing focus points. The only thing I really miss on the D300 is the bracketing button
