has anyone had any luck with re covering data off an over written DVD RW.
if so how did you go about it.
someone just recorded over some important video on video camera
 
You may be able to recover it, however you need a professional company to do it and you are talking lots of money.

When I worked for the software company that looked after the Inland Revenue they used to have to send any old storage media off to a company to be disposed of. They used to format the harddrive and then rewrite, format, rewrite etc.
 
if you got a sandisk extreme 3 card, it comes with recovery software, wont hurt to try it just in case
 
I think you'll need specialist help, it is possible to recover some data thats overwritten once (thats why security firms recomend 3 overwrites at least to kill data) but it a complicated and I suspect expensive job. Just how well it'll work is another question, recovering data for evidence, and getting back somebodies wedding video (for example) and keeping the quality are two different things.
 
thanks for your replies. look like it not going to easy or possibly after talking ot othet people due to the disk writing to back to it for you to re cord on to it.
