My RS monopod came today and I am utterly bowled over. This is my first forray into proper support gear having only a cheap hama star I got for £7 in 2006. Let's put it this way, I now understand how this could be used as the weapon some people seem to use them as
It's a very sturdy piece of kit and very well made. The reversible thread is a very clever design and means you can use a head or connect directly to a camera.
The mini ball head is also a revelation to me. The QR is brilliant with a nice simple lock design to stop you releasing it by accident. It even has a level! My only criticism comes here, the heads a bit sticky. But I guess this will loosen up with wear and I'd rather this than constant cursing when it moves by mistake. No panning option either but on a monopod this isn't exactly an issue.
I think a set of RS tripod legs are on my xmas list, that Hama is now clearly not good enough, in fact so much so I am amazed I ever managed to use it at all.
